Application
Surface preparation
The surface must be clean, sound and free from laitance, oil, grease, curing membranes, primers from previous Agent membrane systems, bitumen and other loose materials. Remove bitumen or primers by sand blasting or mechanical means. Saturate absorbent surfaces thoroughly with water, but avoid ponding. Clean exposed rebar to a bright condition by grit or sand blasting.
Mixing
As a bonding slurry coat: add CASTECH Bond SBR to the pre- measured water in a suitable container and stir well. Add cement slowly and mix well using a slow speed drill fitted with a paddle. As an additive: manual mixing is not recommended; use a forced action mixer or low speed drill with a paddle. Dry blend the cement and sand for one minute, add the premixed CASTECH Bond SBR and clean water, and continue mixing for 3 minutes until homogeneous. Small adjustments to the water are allowed, but do not significantly exceed the dosages below.
Repair mortar (6 – 40 mm)
10 L CASTECH Bond SBR, 8 – 12 L clean water (as per required consistency), 50 kg OPC, 150 kg sand.
Floor screed (30 – 70 mm)
10 L CASTECH Bond SBR, 6 – 10 L clean water, 50 kg OPC, 100 kg fine aggregate, 50 kg 10 mm down aggregate. The screed should be semi dry.
Renders (6 – 15 mm)
10 L CASTECH Bond SBR, 6 – 10 L clean water, 50 kg OPC, 150 kg fine sand. The render should be semi dry and cohesive. Note: the above proportions can vary as per site mix design requirements.
Application
As a neat bonding agent: stir CASTECH Bond SBR well and apply by brush, roller or spray, spreading evenly over the entire surface. Place the material to be bonded while CASTECH Bond SBR is still tacky. As a bonding slurry coat: apply slurry made of CASTECH Bond SBR, water and cement in the ratio 1:1:1 by weight using brush or roller. As an additive: CASTECH Bond SBR modified mortars, toppings and renders must be well compacted onto the prepared substrate by trowel, and exposed reinforcement completely encapsulated. Modified mortars can be applied at 6 – 40 mm thickness; where thicker sections are built up, key and prime the intermediate layers.
Coverage
As a neat bonding agent: 5 – 7 m²/litre/coat; actual coverage depends on texture and porosity of the substrate. As an additive for tile adhesives, bedding mortars, sand- cement renders, plasters and screeds, the dosage may vary from 10 – 20% by weight of cement.
Curing
All cementitious materials modified with CASTECH Bond SBR should be cured with mist water spray, moist curing with wet hessian, or an appropriate curing compound from the
Packaging & storage
